Autistic Daughters (the band)

January 28, 2008 by Kristina Chew, PhD

A bit of a follow-up to last week’s post on whether autism is underdiagnosed in girls and women: Just read mention of a band named Autistic Daughters (made up of three guys). Then there’s a band of brothers, one on the autism spectrum, Jet Fuel Only. In the band are teenager Sawyer Goodson who has Asperger Syndrome, and his brother, Evan, who has a speech impediment; their younger brother Cameron has autism; here’s their first performance at their school in Chico, California. Not your average sons of no or anyone……. Music unsticks good things.

I love it! The Rachel Ray clip tells a little about the family, which is nice.

It really bothers me that other kids are so mean. Where are the teachers when this is happening?

  2. MomtoJBG says:

I should have mentioned that in the Rachel Ray YouTube clip, the dad talks about how they started the band to try to help the boys fit in. They were getting teased a lot.

  3. You could add Donna & The Aspinauts to your list of autism spectrum bands
