According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average age for first time mothers in the United States has risen from 21.4 years (in 1970) to over 25 in the 2000s.
The rising age of first-time mothers is raising concern about fertility as a woman’s fertility drops, resulting in couples spending thousands of dollars and a lot of heartache in trying to conceive. The NPR has this interesting article about the issue: For Prospective Moms, Biology and Culture Clash.

well, 25 isn’t problematic for a first time mom. i was 30 and it was a piece of cake. when you hit 35, things start getting riskier and conception becomes more difficult. the number of people seeking ivf is wild!
