Avis Tries Harder with Smoke-Free Fleet

Avis really does “try harder” when it comes to winning your business. And they’re hoping that a major decision announced today will make you want to rent from them.
Effective October 1st, 2009, Avis’ entire car rental fleet will be smoke-free. Every location, every car. Stickers will be placed on every vehicle to indicate that it is smoke-free, and a cleaning fee (up to $250) will be charged if it’s returned smelling of smoke. While Avis has had smoke-free as an option in the past, this change makes their fleet 100% smoke-free.
Let’s hope that this accomplishes what all non-smokers are looking for – a rental car that doesn’t contain smoky air or the scent of perfume or air fresheners trying to cover it up.
Avis Rent-a-Car is owned by the Avis Budget Group, Inc., which also operates Budget Rent-a-Car. Budget is also smoke-free.
What do you think? Does going smoke free make you more disposed to renting from Avis or Budget?
