Avoid Flu with Common Healthy Habits

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers ways to keep yourself and others healthy during the swine influenza outbreak.
According to the CDC, these everyday actions are helpful in preventing flu spread:
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
Of course, those actions may seem like common sense, but how often do you find yourself touching your eyes or nose? If you pay attention, you’ll see that you do it more often than you think.
CDC also urges you to avoid contact with sick people and stay home from work or school if you’re sick yourself! Again, it seems like common sense, but I encounter sick people at their jobs often, and it’s a bit alarming if these are folks handling your food.
Do you practice these healthy, flu-avoidance habits?
