When you are short on cash and want to buy holiday gifts, it can be frustrating to try to squeeze the money out of your already tight budget. One way to get some extra money for the holidays and to get some discounted gifts on top of the cash is to look into becoming an independent sales representative for one of the many companies that are recruiting them.

To do well as a sales rep, you should be someone with a pretty large circle of friends and an outgoing personality. You also need to be willing to look at your work as a real business and should plan to commit to several hours a day of work, whether it is making calls and emails or doing actual sales.
(One year, I joined Avon for the discount and literally shopped for my family out of the catalog. I got so many very nice gifts and didn’t even have to leave home to shop. On top of that, commission from sales to a few other people paid part of my gift tab. If I would have put any effort into the business, I could have actually made some income, too. However, at the time, I already had a full time and a part time job and wasn’t looking for another job.)
Here are a few of the many businesses that use independent consultants:
Avon
Discovery Toys
Longaberger
Mia Bella Candles
Usborne Books & More
Do you use one of these businesses to make some holiday money?
