B5 Science and Health Channel Theme Day: It’s All About Them Men!

The B5media Science and Health Theme Day for June is all about you.

The month of June is all about the men of the world: the National Men’s Health Week runs 11-17 June, 2007 and who can forget Fathers’ Day on the 17th?

Here at B5media’s Science and Health Channel, we are all about living a better life through science and health.

This time - especially for all men out there – to all about them living a healthier, more wonderful and happier lives…after all, if they’re all that, then the women are going to have a blast!

So the men in our lives takes center stage here at B5media’s Science and Health Channel Theme Day… here’s to all our fathers, grandfathers, husbands (or the fathers of our children), our brothers and our (grown-up) sons…and whatever other role a man play in our lives:

• Cory at Baldiness points out that hair loss should not be blamed for poor self esteem. Actually (I think!), many women find lesser hair on a man’s head sexier. Don’t you?
• Kendra at Diabetes Notes, have decided to talk about a topic that most male patients whisper about and doctors don’t openly inquire about. Did you know high blood sugars can directly affect your sex life? That’s right Mr. Macho, Kendra is talking to you!
• Then, A Hearty Life is concerned with your golf game. Do you know that the average golf course is 6500-7000 yards? (that would be just under 4 miles!) Kendra thinks that is a good cardiac workout.
• Ruth at Eating Fabulous writes about flaxseed halting the (re)-growth of prostate cancer. But take note: 30 grams flaxseed daily with low-fat diet, average 30 days prior to surgery.
• Liz at Alzheimer’s Notes is looking at the link between lower testosterone levels and Alzheimer’s Disease.
• Over at Mental Health Notes, Alicia believes that depression doesn’t give a rat’s tail about your stereotypical idea of what a man should be, nor does any other mental health condition out there. She is challenging you (a man) to be a real man by turning away from the stereotypes and aiming your focus on taking care of yourself.
• Mark at A Dozen Steps dissects the case of The Disenfranchised Father. I believe that there are reasons why absent fathers are absent. Some reasons are more valid than others…and yes, they aren’t usually as callous as what they are made to be.
• Check this out boys: according to our Veggie Chic Julie, real men eat broccoli!
• In honor of Men’s Health Week, Kristina at Autism Vox salutes the two main menfolk (husband Jim, son Charlie) in her life by quoting from Jim’s own account of the Sopranos, various New Jersey locales, and what it took to get Charlie into a good autism school.
• Lively Women has a DANGER warning: Do you know the top 10 causes of death for American men? The blog is Lively Women, but today Kristen is spending some time talking about the guys as well as the girls. You or someone you love may be at risk of one of these leading killers. Take preventive action now, and stay lively for many years to come.
• At Breastfeeding 1-2-3 Angela has posted her perhaps most controversial and titillating post yet, wherein she answers some of men’s sexual health questions in “Everything You Wanted to Know about Breastfeeding, Sex and Breast Milk Fetishes but Were Afraid to Ask”.
• Tris of Homely Scientist is urging you guys to go see your doctor…simply because people love you.
• Finally, here at Cancer Commentary, I found out that men can have hot flashes too: those undergoing androgen-deprivation therapies as treatment for prostate cancer. But don’t you worry guys, there is a non-hormonal solution.
