Baby Borrowers, Benefit or Blunder?
NBC’s Baby Borrowers premiers tonight and frankly, I am intrigued. With an ounce (okay, 8 ounces) of trashy reality television and genetic roots in values it just might work.
Washington Post writer, Tom Shales, says that it will manipulate you into rooting for some of the contestants while hissing and booing others” but I’m not so sure that is what the show is really supposed to be about. Deep down I think the show is “supposed” to be about teaching teens that pregnancy is something special and that they should wait until they are older, more educated, and much more responsible.
Yet the other big question is…who would “lend” their children to teenagers to care for them? I don’t know about you but I do hope these teens not only had the chance to care for happy babies but kids like mine because that would certainly scare them straight.

Can’t wait to read your update tomorrow. I posted on this as well at babylune. Maybe with the outbreak in teen pregnancies this might be a good show.
I saw this also, and didn’t understand why any one would lend a kid, especially a newborn with seemingly average teenagers without any experience with children, especially when they described thinking parenting is “easy.” I’m a teenager and I’m not an idiot, parenting is not easy, I want to say it’s a commitment but it’s even more than that, it is every part of your life- I know this and I’m not a mother, I’m a teenager, and these people who think parenting is easy are being lent actual children? I understand it might be for a good cause but I don’t know who would ever lend their children to some one with no experience, especially newborns, I wouldn’t even lend my dogs to some one without an idea of how to take care of them,
