Back to the Beach House

Made it down to the beach house with the usual traffic and Charlie making it clear, he’d rather be somewhere else. I unloaded the car while Jim picked up two rental bikes, and Charlie came in to the beach house (this is the fourth year we’ve rented the same one), eventually.
Charlie used to get really upset when we left the beach and now I maybe he’s transferring his worry about leaving a special place to the beginning of the trip.

Off to the beach while the lifeguards are still out.

Do you own the beach house or get the same one each year? Do you get pics out of the house a few days prior to going to let Charlie know you are going back? I guess the packing stuff is also an indicator. I have a camp photo album that gets out before camp starts as a reminder.
We rent—have been renting this house for the past couple of years. We used to try to rent a place on the 2nd floor; got complaints of Charlie stomping and decided it’d be easier just to rent a whole house. It’s a block from the ocean — we only go to the beach pretty much so it’s not far to walk, and no main streets. We’ve been talking about going to the beach and Charlie’s responded by packing his lunchbox—-used to do photos but those have not been helping as they did.
Congratulations on arriving there safely.
Look forward to your reports and hope you all have a great time.
We have a trip scheduled in a couple of days, so we’ll see how Eleanor feels about getting away from home base, although I’ve been talking it up for the past week. Extended time in a beach rental sounds great, but waited a little too long for that. If it goes well–maybe next year.
