Back to the Prevacid, he is

r.jpgResearch has indicated that more than 50% of the world’s population have H. pylori in their upper GI tract and the infection is more prevalent in developing countries and in countries that have poor sewer systems.

When we adopted AJ we knew that many children adopted from Russia had parasites and ova as well as bacterial infections such as H Pylori and we knew to test for it. However, our pediatrician would not order the test even after he showed the symptoms (pain or discomfort (usually in the upper abdomen), bloating, feeling full after eating a small amount of food, lack of appetite (in his case, ravenous), nausea, vomiting, and dark or tar-colored stools).

We treated the H Pylori with the traditional “triple cocktail” of three antibiotics (Metronidazole, Amoxicillin, and Clarithromycin) and Prevacid over two years ago but H Pylori causes gastritis, a long lasting inflammation of the stomach and 10-20% of people who have had H Pylori will develop ulcers (1% will develop stomach cancer).

But why is he back on Prevacid now?

Because apparently when he goes through times of huge transitions his anxiety flares up causing the acid in his stomach to build up. He has been complaining for about two weeks that he had a tummy ache and eating ravenously (or not eating at all) but we were not quite sure what was happening. Finally, when it got to be too much (sleep interruptions, school meltdowns, tantrums at home over food) i took him to the doctor.

She immediately prescribed Prevacid to help calm the acid and suspects that either the H Pylori is back (because he either picked it up somewhere or it was embedded deep in the stomach tissue) or transitions result in anxiety and manifest physically.

What do you all think? Any Doctors out there?

There are several effective ways to treat H. pylori naturally.
    H. pylori is a bacteria that is normally kept in check by the body’s chemical systems…nearly everyone has it in their mouth. It acts up when there is a problem , or stress on the body…and is generally hand in hand with candida albicans.

What I would do is goldenseal tincture 3x a day for 14 days..then off 7 days and then back on ..repeat that cycle for two full cycles, 6 weeks. Additionally Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice which goes by the name DLG is very effective against H pyori…
I would also cut yeast in any form, white flours, sugar in any form, and fruit from the diet for one month and add natural unsweetened, organic yogurt 3x day.
I would also suggest you research treatments for candida because that is a given with your sons history..

Not a doc…but I hope this gives you an alternative to consider. :)
