Back to the Subject of Diet Pills…

I was paging back through some of our older posts and checking out the comments here at Burning the Scale when something caught my eye. I ran into this one about this one about diet pills producing minimal effects, which got me thinking about diet aids and one really, really interesting (albeit negative) post I read about Alli and its side effects over at a full-figured blog called Fatshionista. It sounded unpleasant at best, and truly intrigued me.
I’m not one for diet pills, and I usually ignore them altogether. I have enough to worry about when I’m paying attention to my veggie intake and multivitamins (plus all the gym visits) to get into this end of weight loss at all. However, I’m wondering if readers or our other co-bloggers here have considered Alli or another weight loss pill. Many of us in the plus community get tempted to try them, and we’d love to hear more about your experiences. Were they like the one I read over at Fatshionista? Or have you never tried diet pills/aids, but have considered them? Comment below and let me know!

I use Alli. I was slammed for it on another blog but the truth is I researched, found it was safe, FDA approved and worked. I have none of the listed side effects such as nasty “wet” gas or very loose stools because I follow the directions.
If you over eat, you’ll have problems with Alli. But if you follow a low fat diet it will block out some of the fat so you lose some extra pounds.
So it worked for you? I know many are quick to slam Alli, but it’s good to know all of the facts. Thanks for stepping forward!
I too use Alli and do not have any problems with it. Yes, there can be some ‘oil’ in your stool when you use the bathroom but it says that can happen but its not a issue with me and its not bad enough to make me stop taking them. But I dont have leakage or any other horrible side effect.
Like the other person said, you have to eat low fat. You will have the bad side effects if you go out and eat a cheeseburger and fries. That is just asking for it.
I have used Hydroxycut on and off (currently off) for a few years. I generally don’t need to lose a lot of weight at a time, but when I find myself getting a little out of control, I’ll take it for a short while to get me back on track.
I’ve never had the “amazing results” you see in the ads, mind you, but of course I don’t exercise nearly as much as I should, either.
I still find it helps curb cravings and serves as a reminder that I’m actively “doing something” to get my weight back in check.
Thanks for all your opinions… someone I know is using hydroxycut right now. I’ll have to see how it goes for them.
if u want a pill that will give u lots of energy, then i woudl recommend zantrex-3. if u want one with little to no side-effects, id say try akavar 20/50. both are good at curbing your hunger, especially before meal time
There are options for supplements. Be wary of outrageous claims. Look for a diet supplement that decreases appetite, increases energy and helps with the mood swings that will come from caloric reduction.
