Backyard Campout
“Your official family vacation may be weeks away, but there’s no reason to wait for adventure — it awaits you right in your very own backyard! Camping out, whether in Yosemite or the far reaches of suburbia, is always a surefire hit with the young’uns — especially if they get to invite over a few friends and the snacks are fun and plentiful. A night under the stars makes everything special — even if it’s just sleeping bags on the trampoline (my childhood favorite)’
A word to the wise… host the campout in your own backyard. When Jamie was about ten, he camped out in the backyard of his best friend and in the middle of the night, it started to rain… hard. The parent hosting didn’t hear the rain and a very soggy Jamie and a Jordan started pounding on our door at 4 in the morning. It might have been a good idea to hide a key so that the boys could have come in for cover.
Luckily the pounding woke us up. Other than the rain, both boys had a blast!

This is a great idea that our boys have also done.
I shared a room with my sisters and so to get some alone time (in the summer) I would put the tent up and camp out. *smile*
I never thought of that. I shared with my sister and we had a huge back yard. Probably too chicken to sleep out all by myself lol…
