Bald Man of the Week: Charlie Villaneuva

Let’s continue with basketball, but switch to the pros. The Baldiness Bald Man of the Week is Charlie Villaneuva.

Charlie is rookie forward for the NBA Toronto Raptors and has been living with alopecia areata since childhood and works with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. Here’s a great little write up in the Toronto Star:
What the 21-year-old Villanueva has done is become a walking poster boy for the fight against alopecia areata, a disease many suffer from but few know about. He spends an inordinate amount of time delivering his message to kids who suffer from the disease, making sure they know they have someone to look up to, someone who overcame the psychological impact the disease can have to gain respect and fame. I’m not much of an NBA fan, but here’s hoping Charlie has a long and successful career. Hats off! to this week’s Bald Man of the Week

With all these NBA players sporting the bald look, it’s kinda hard to tell who really has it! Yay for Charlie for proving all the critics wrong that the Raptors made a mistake by drafting him “too high” in the 2005 draft at number 7.
*Just leaving my mark at Baldiness… now off to the next hydrant….*
Thanks, Angelo, for the comment. The number of players who voluntarily choose to shave their heads just proves that bbald is where it’s at!
