Bally Fitness Center Question

Does anyone here belong to Bally’s? What have your experiences been like? It’s no secret that there are lots of people out there who have had problems with their memberships (Google Bally + scam for examples), but I have been really happy with it. If you move a lot, Bally’s is a good way to secure an affordable membership price without worry.
But here’s where I need your help. Has anyone had their membership auto-renew after a 3 year contract? While my contract doesn’t specifically mention an auto-renew, anyone who has dealt with Bally Fitness will know why I’m double checking! Even though I am paying an insanely low $30 for a gym membership in Miami (near Adventura, no less), I’m moving again right after my contract is up and won’t be anywhere near a Bally Fitness Center. Any helpful hints or past experiences?

I definitely second your concerns, Meieli…I moved from California to Toronto and cancelled (i.e. *paid out*) the rest of my membership. They still called every once in a while for a couple months to say I owed them more money…and each time I would reference the payment confirmation #, which would halt the conversation.
I have a note on my calender for when the contract would have been renewed…you can bet I will be pestering them that week to double/triple confirm that they aren’t going to “automatically” do anything for me…ever again.
Yes! I’m glad that I’m not alone. I’m going to look up the exact date of my contract expiration, too!
That is really shady. I like Gold’s Gym, because after your initial 2 year contract is up you convert to month-to-month and can cancel anytime.
Ballys told me to steer clear of Gold’s. Hmmm. . .
