Be Safe: Avoid All Pistachio Products

There’s bad news for pistachio lovers.

The FDA warns consumers to avoid eating any pistachio products. The warning comes after Setton Farms in recall_pistachio_allCalifornia recalled around 1 million pounds of roasted pistachios. The pistachios were distributed in large containers, which were either packaged for resale or used as ingredients in other products. During routine testing, Kraft Foods found Salmonella strains in some of their products using pistachios from Setton Farms.

While the FDA advises consumers not to eat pistachios, they also want you to hang on to the nuts for now. The FDA may want them for testing later.

Until the FDA learns of the scope of  contamination, it’s important to avoid eating any products containing pistachios, including your favorite ice cream or trail mix!
