Bead Journal Project: January

Each month, I’m choosing a fragment of scripture from one of the Psalms and using a heart shape to create a little 4 x 4 inch beaded piece that illustrates the feeling of that verse for me. Here is my piece for January:

Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God
No need to struggle…just let go of your self-will, and know that He is there.

Delightful.
Thank you Shirley. It’s the reminder that I frequently need
It’s a great page and yes, a good reminder of something we need to do but it is soooo hard to do at the same time.
If it were easy, I wouldn’t have to remind myself all the time!!
Just curious Cyndi….do you think of variations on the theme when you are working and have to restrain yourself to doing the hearts?
Also, I clicked the Bead Journal Project Blog for the first time and …WoW…that was wonderful…like discovering a whole new world full of talented artists I haven’t come across before. I have some great old beads but have held off using them because I have no knowledge or skills in this area…except to lust after your pieces of course.
Thanks for the introduction to their website and blogs…all three of them.
The Bead Journal Project is one of the best things I’ve done over the past 2 years! The first year, I made rather elaborate pages, all focused on the name of the full moon for each month. They each took a bit of time, and I played around with lots of different techniques.
This year, I decided to approach it completely differently. Only the Psalms, only simple stitches, each one with simple outlined hearts. What a lesson in discipline it’s been! My own beady little heart wants to cut loose, but I’ve been reigning it in. Not everyone would think this is a good idea, but it’s working well for me. Lots of ideas have spiraled out from the pieces I’ve been doing, and I’ve had time to sketch some of them out for later.
When I’m finished with all my hearts, they are meant to be viewed as a cluster. Each season has it’s own color, and the theme moves along through the seasons too. But it won’t really be apparent until I’m finished
Thanks for asking…this is probably more that you wanted to know!
Cyndi that was exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks for answering in depth.
