Beer Causes Baldness

BeerWarm weather is just around the corner in my hemisphere, and that means outdoor sports, backyard barbeques, and a nice cold beer. If I may, the immortal words of Homer Simpson seem appropriate here: “Mmm… beer.

Before you go tapping that keg, however, you should know that the six pack in your hand may cost you more than the six pack under your shirt. Turns out alcohol can also promote hair loss.

DRINKING reduces the amount of zinc in your body, which is one of the essential compounds for promoting hair growth. Alcohol is also a toxin which can reduce the amount of nutrients in the body and raise adrenal levels – this causes a spike in androgen, which can cause hair loss. (source)

Perhaps that explains why the macho jocks from high school always seem to be overweight and bald at the reunions… too many keggers.
