Sure, Portuguese water dogs are cute. And very popular because the Obamas chose Bo. But is it really the right dog for you?

A recent CNN article, Water dogs should come with warnings, explores the breed and cautions pet lovers to do their homework before choosing this dog. It’s an active dog that needs to be with people.
According to the American Kennel Club, the breed requires “daily vigorous exercise.” In other words, if you work 60 hours a week, your Portuguese water dog may decide to get destructive for lack of activity.
