Behold, the Power of Banana

Bananas are delicious. They make great banana bread and muffins. They are fantastic in organic corn flakes with raw goat milk (yeah, just trust me on that one)…and they are a great cure for both poison ivy and warts.

Huh?

The banana peel has salicylic acid in it. The same stuff as in aspirin and white willow. Anyway…it helps to dry up poison ivy. Just eat the banana and then rub the peel over the poison ivy. Do this a couple of times a day until you are either sick of bananas or your poison ivy goes away. Pretty cool, huh?

To get rid of warts cut a small piece of fresh peel and tape it over the wart. Keep the inside against the wart an the yellow part out. Change it daily. A band-aide will hold it on there pretty well. In a week or so the wart should fall off…or be gone, depending on the size and your body chemistry.

Banana peels are also great to sooth mosquito and chigger bites.

If you have hemorrhoids then the application of the inside of a banana peel to the painful area is healing and soothing.

So next time bananas are on sale, especially organic bananas…hey..pick up a ..ahem…bunch.

I sure wish I had known the banana trick last summer when I had terrible posion ivy–I tried every remedy I could find and it ended up so bad I had to go on steroids. Will also try on mosquito bites as I get lots of those!

Us too, Laura…close proximity to the creek and all.
