Better Dementia/Alzheimer’s Care Sought by Queen Silvia of Sweden

It’s not only in the United States that Alzheimer’s and dementia are gaining attention.  At a symposium in Japan, Sweden’s Queen Silvia discussed the need for more aid for dementia patients and their caregivers.

“Awareness of the disease is or the most importance in order to provide help and support for those affected by dementia,” she said.

Since Queen Silvia’s late mother suffered from dementia, she is aware first hand of it’s effect on a victim and their family

(She and her husband, King Carl XIV Gustaf, attended the Japan-Sweden Joint Symposium on Welfare.  They also met with the Emperor and Empress of Japan at the Royal Palace.)
