Better Sleep Month: Sleep and pain

Getting a good night’s sleep can be difficult at the best of times, but for those who live with chronic pain, it can be downright impossible.
Sleeping pills are often not the answer because they can interact with medications already taken for the problem that is causing the pain and, possibly, other issues that go along with a chronic illness. Also, sometimes the medications that are meant to help could be actively keeping you awake. So – if you have chronic pain and you can’t get a good night’s sleep, what can you do?
WebMD has some good information in a section called When Aches & Pain Disrupt Sleep. It reviews the importance of sleep, some solutions, and different medications that can affect sleep.

Hi Marijke,
How about napping? Any advices for that?
Cheers,
Rain
Hi Rain,
There have been a lot of studies on the benefits of short naps during the day – I am one who really believes in napping too. Thank goodness I work from home and am able to grab a nap when I feel like it. If you’d like, I can find some articles that discuss this. Let me know if you would like me to.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
