Bible Diary

December 4, 2007 by Heather Goldsmith

After receiving our mail today hubby was reading out items of interest from a Christian bookstore catalogue. He misread something as ‘bible diary’ and I couldn’t help feeling interested. When I investigated I was a little disappointed that they did not in fact have a bible diary, but it got me thinking there must be such a thing. Sure enough, I came across several, though none in my local Christian bookstore. Most I saw were Catholic, not that the diary wouldn’t still be useful. I was looking for a specific Christian bible diary.

Still, you wouldn’t need to have a bible with a diary in it, or even a diary with a bible in it, if you wanted to simply use a notebook to take notes about your daily bible readings. Of course, it would be more compact to have this all in one volume. If you know of any published diaries that sound like what I’m describing, please share in the comments section below and I can pass on the information to regular readers.

Since I use a lot of Biblical quotes in my artwork, I started the very un-sophisicated practice of simply making a list of phrases and verses that spoke to me (along with the references of course, since I can *never* remember those!). It started out as a piece of paper that I kept in my Bible, and now it’s more like 5 pieces of paper…

Anyway, I know it’s not what you’re looking for, but it helps to suppliment the plain old blank journal that I use each day :-)

    Hi Heather,

I did a search on “Bible journal” in http://www.christianbook.com and a few seems promising.

Hope it has what you are looking for.

  3. Hi Cyndi,
Thanks for the input. I appreciate any ideas on this topic. ;-)

  4. Hi Flora,
Thanks for the link. I’ll have a bit of a look and see what they have on their website. ;-)

Since you posted this my brain keeps going back to it lol. I’m not sure what you’re looking for specificly, but the other day I was in a christian store and they have journals for scripture and thoughts, prayers and thoughts, and a few other things. Family Christian Store is the store and you can go to their dot com to find the items online most likely. Other than this, I know that they make bibles with extra large margins for note taking. I think they might be the study bibles. In any event, I hope you find exactly what you’re looking for so we can all hear about it :) I’ve been wanting to keep a spiritual journal for a long time now and am looking for a new way to go about it…Other than the standard “record what verse you’re reflecting on and then journal about it.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that ;) I wish I could find one with pre-written verses to journal about…like a journal that already has topics in it to write about. Although the closest thing to that I’ve seen so far usually are journals with quotes in them, which for me is not the same. Anyway, here’s happy hunting to both of us! lol :)

  6. Hi ToddMen,
Thanks that you’ve been on the look out, too. I do know what I want, but can’t seem to find it. I know I can probably locate it online, but there’s nothing like holding a book, like a journal or a bible for that matter, in your hands and seeing how it’s really laid out, etc. There’s always the extra postage to Australia that kind of puts me off, too.

I know what you’re looking for, too. Amazingly enough you’ll probably end up having to make it, which is what my hubby ends up doing when he can’t find the kind of bible or reference book he’s looking for. Thanks for keeping this in mind and letting me know. ;-)
