A billion dollar biotech campus in North Carolina is being planned by California billionaire David Murdock.  His intention is to develop the campus into a top flight research hub having the largest collection of scientists working in one area, in the whole of the United States.  Wondering what this has got to do with diabetes?  The work carried out in the labs in the campus will be aimed at controlling major diseases like diabetes and cancer.  The 82 year old billionaire will spend $100 million of his own money to help start the campus and expects to see the first building open within two years.
