Binge eating in pregnancy

In a study published in October 2007, researchers found that while women often are able to control their eating disorder symptoms or they go into remission while pregnant, some women experience a trigger of binging.

The study, which followed over 41,000 women who reported symptoms of eating disorders at 18 weeks’ of pregnancy. Almost 2000 of the women reported binging while they were pregnant and over 700 said that they experienced a new onset of binge eating during pregnancy.

The good news is that about 40% of women who did experience bulimia before they became pregnant were able to not experience the symptoms while they were pregnant.
