Bird-brained book.
One of our favourite books at the moment is Mo Willems’ “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!”. It’s a really humourous story about a pigeon that’s just dying to drive a bus, and won’t take no for an answer. I think Alison finds it amusing because she can see herself in the tantrum-throwing pigeon’s stubborn, unreasonable behaviour and yet she’s placed in a parent’s position because she has to say “No” to the pigeon.
This wonderful picture book won a 2003 Caldecott Honor medal, and is well worth acquiring for your home library. Willems has also produced some other books. Check him out!

You’ve inspired me! I’ve been pseudo-randomly looking for family and relationship blogs that might be similar to mine, and I really like the idea of offering quick reviews of books (maybe movies too?) that might appeal to readers. Thanks! (…and my kids are too old now for that particular book, but there was a day when you would have had me off to the book store
