Bird Flu Mutates – No Increased Risk to Humans

It’s a good news, bad news story. The good news is that avian influenza (H5N1) is not any easier to catch by a human than it has ever been. And it has not mutated to the point where human-to-human transmission is possible.
The bad news is that avian influenza, or bird flu, is mutating among birds and is becoming more deadly to birds. The reaction to that, both real and imagined, has yet to play out, but it does potentially increase the chance of a mutation that could affect humans.
