Blended Floss & Egyptian Sampler

I’ve stitched various projects in the past using single floss colors in the needle, and I have to say now that I’ve been working on Egyptian Sampler that I love the result you get using blended floss. It gives the work some depth and dimension, instead of being somewhat flat in feeling. As time-consuming as it is to prepare the floss, it is entirely worth it.

On this progress pic, I’ve done the back-stitching on the left portion of the border. On the right corner I’ve back-stitched just the flower motif. Back-stitching makes all the difference in the world between “great result” and “most excellent wonderful result”. Even though this project looks like it is going to take me months instead of weeks to complete, I think I will enjoy the entire thing. One of these times I will take the fabric off my scroll frame so I can do a proper scan instead of using the digital camera.

Backstitch always makes a difference, with TW especially.

The blends worked very well with my Drake (having only him as a live example is not much yet to say about this, though). I’ve noticed another designs of hers that have blends heaped, but IMO without a miraculous effect.

Suppose your Sampler has them right on the spot :)

I can only imagine how gorgeous your house must be!

Ternezia I can’t tell for certain, but it looks like there isn’t any backstitching on those grapes. I see what you mean about the effect though.

SP My house is over-run with males… need I say more?! lol :D
