Before I get to the body of my post, I want to plug the contest they are having over at the Tangled Thread blog (or paste: http://www.tangledthread.com
I loved looking at the picture in today’s post. It looks like a small gramophone–but it isn’t.
My post is based on another post at The Steampunk Forum–the topic is “Gramophone MP3 Player“ and they have more pictures on their post. (Including one of the interior…) It was created by a “Herr Dokter, esq.”
I like this. They used old stuff to make it, specifically “an old car horn, a tea caddy, a scrounged crank handle, some speakers with mechanical operated volume and a tiny MP3 player.” Not to mention, you have to give them credit for the time and ingenuity they took in putting the idea together. I’d love to know why they decided to make it.
This item is especially interesting because it seems that there are several “junk” components and a new(er) mp3 player–sometimes hybrid (junk and new) is the way to go, if you have a specific idea in mind.
Anyone heard of similar things? I was thinking that it might be cool to make a space aged music player with some chrome paint and an old remote…who knows–maybe I’ll have it shoot flames?
