Last year, thousands of people participated in Blog Action Day, which was on the topic of the environment. As a result, awareness of different programs and initiatives were discussed around the world in many different languages.
This year, the topic for Blog Action Day 08 is poverty. In order to stimulate discussion and to get action on poverty, the hope is that thousands more will once again blog, all on the same day, on the same topic.
How can this make a difference? It may seem odd to think that one person with one blog can make a difference in poverty in our own backyard or on the other side of the world. But one person and one blog can. If it is to learn about how to make microloans to help villagers become self-sufficient or it’s to provide school supplies for one child in your neighborhood school, those actions make a difference. If you don’t have the means to help financially, you can help by learning about programs and spreading the word.
Womb Within will participate by blogging about pregnancy and poverty – if you would like to have something to say, just add a comment here or email me (email in the side bar) and I’ll try to include as many ideas as I can.
Please visit the Blog Action Day 08 website to learn more.
