Full of more fun projects than I’ll ever have time to do, Mixed Mania is a romp through the creative imaginations of two artists, Debbi Crane and Cheryl Prater, who met online and became friends through the serendipity of both being “cover girls” for Interweave Press. And there are recipes too!
Debbi writes, “You don’t need a degree in art to create beautiful, meaningful pieces. Play with our instructions and processes by adding your own signature elements, and you’ll achieve a result that is uniquely your own. The only mistake you can make is not to make anything at all.”
Divided into three main sections, Mixed Mania takes an unstuffy approach to a range of techniques including art quilts, painting, collage, bookbinding, assemblage, drawing, image transfers, sewing, doll making, scrapbooking, keepsake art, and decoupage. The book is divided into “artistic appetizers,” “creating main courses,” and “sweet treats and special occasions.”

One of my fondest memories is visiting the library with my mother, where I would bury myself in craft books. I was only allowed to check them out on weekends, because otherwise I would throw a fit if I couldn’t stay up late (on school nights) and work on projects! This book looks fun.
