Both high and low blood sugar levels affect thinking, according to a new study. The study was conducted on nearly 200 people with type 1 diabetes and 36 people with type 2 diabetes. They took a series of quick tests like thinking of as many words as possible beginning with the letter A, subtraction etc. The results were then entered into hand held computers. The aim of the study was to see if blood sugar levels affect the test performance, which was the case with 55% of the participants. But the researchers noted that not all of the participants were affected. This shows that having correct blood sugar levels helps in good thinking. The study will be published in the January issue of Diabetes Care.
