Blood test for lung cancer?
Since I work in this area and my mother died of lung cancer (please don’t smoke), I thought this was interesting, a Blood test for lung cancer may be possible:
A simple blood test may be able to detect lung cancer in its earliest stages with unprecedented accuracy, according to new research to be presented at American Thoracic Society’s 2008 International Conference in Toronto on May 20.
Lung cancer screening can be very difficult since there are several types and presentations of it, and diagnostic procedures often result in false positive results which can be nerve-wracking, expensive and sometimes invasive.
I hope it turns out that something as simple as a blood test can diagnose lung cancer early and perhaps even save some lives.

That is WONDERFUL news. I smoked for 25 years (I know, I’m bad). I stopped in December 2003, the day before my IVF that gave me my daughter. Sometimes, I miss smoking a lot, but I don’t think I’ll go back (in fact, on Sunday, other people’s smoke actually smelled bad to me for the first time!). But I am often scared about the cancer risk, which will never go away. Believe me, I would have this blood test as often as recommended if it were available.
