Boeing 747–Now THAT’s large scale reuse!

Boeing 747 House

Saw this news story the other day and it fit so well with what I’m doing here at this little blog that I couldn’t help but post it:
Woman to build house out of Boeing 747 This above picture comes directly from the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) website and this post is based (more or less) on the same article, put out by the BBC.

I will say for this lady, that she is spending a lot of money to reuse something from the scrap yard! I am guess that Boeing has a “no browsing” policy (much like my own landfill/dump), so the fact that she even has a deal for a old airplane parts is great. (Maybe she should try to use it as an ad for Boeing…)

As for the architect, perhaps he just wanted a challenge? Even if that is the case, the plans look pretty cool.

I am all for reusing, but I am usually trying to save money, not spend millions! I know of many homes that use solar power and wind power to conserve, but this is a one-time, expensive way to reuse a large something!

Tell me, would you build/pay someone to build this house? As cool as it is, I think I’d find some other ways to be unique (as if I didn’t already have too many).
