Blue glue gel as a resist? I wonder if it would work on paper arts too realizing of course, that it needs to be washed off at some point. I buy resist stuff and it always dries up on me before I use it so I cancel my project, buy some more, it dries up before.....so this sounds like an idea to explore. If this is what the book is like it'll have to go on my wish list.
