Brain Fog – Revisited

It’s been a few weeks since my last brain fog post. My apologies to the people I am profiling with this phenomenon. I needed a bit of a break, to work on some other things….but I am back and focused!

I am going to revisit the ADD Brain Fog. A particularly interesting brand, because I suspect this is where we discover people are geniuses. Anyway, I digress. Today I am profiling Jul, who writes Veggie Chic for the Science and Health Channel at b5 media. If you are trying to incorporate less meat into your diet….she has some great ideas. Give her blog a little visit. You won’t be sorry. She had a recipe on there a few months ago, for a curry that was absolutely divine!

Like I said, Jul suffers a bit from the ADD Brain Fog. This is what she had to say about it when I asked the question if anyone out there suffers from B.F

Why yes, yes I do. ADD style… Eric’s story sounds extremely familiar, except I don’t have a basement.

Just like a person with brain fog, to not elaborate on how they are feeling. I needed more information, so I prodded her a bit further, and she responded with this example

OK… here’s an ADD moment for you… I started typing this answer this morning (at least 6 hours ago), and just realized I never finished and posted it.

I do this all the time, and I don’t have ADD (but I sometimes wish I did). I often think I have completed a task, only to find out hours or days later, that I haven’t completed it, or worse yet, hadn’t even started it! I do exactly the same thing with phone calls…think I have returned them, when I haven’t.

When I asked Jul, how she copes with these moments, she gave the following advice:

If I notice it happening a lot in a short period of time, I’ll try to switch to a different activity that requires a different level of concentration. And I make a lot of lists – writing things down helps me relax and not worry that things will be forgotten.

OK, so we have a bit of a theme going on here. List making is easily the number one way to battle the brain fog. I hadn’t thought about using it as a way to relax though…but it makes perfect sense. And I love that Jul just gives up an activity that isn’t working for her, and does something else that might be more appropriate in that moment. So smart. See what I mean when I say ADD types are geniuses.

Thanks Julie for participating in my series on the beast called brain fog.

Hi there:) My brain fog beast never leaves my side and it came on suddenly and lasts 24/7. It does seem to get worse with stress, muggy and wet weather and getting sick and tired. I have tried to find out the cause of my brain fog for a year already and refuse to believe this beast some day will become my full-time pet!! I feel like a crazy person with brain fog. I also have stuffed-feeling ears, extremely tired and lazy; am on 2 doses of Prozac for depression and am more calm and less thoughts distract me but still that stupid brain fog. It has changed me to the point where I wonder if I am even the same happy person anymore. I am getting married in 7 months and am soo scared I won;t be better by then to enjoy my day:( Please email me any responses to my email addresses ok? I really, really appreciate it:)

Hope you are having a good day
