Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
The older we get, the harder it is to make new friends. I have made some friends in my new neighborhood and most of them are on the same page as I am. We have the same ideals, values and goals for our kids. I trust them and they trust me. Our kids play together, have movie nights and enjoy each other’s company. It works out nicely.
There are occasions, however, when I meet a mom that holds way different ideals, or something about her persona rubs me the wrong way. I know that sounds snobbish, but it my honest feeling. I usually give the friendship some time, but there are instances that it just doesn’t resolve itself. I’m not quite sure what to do in this case. I hate hurting people’s feelings. Yet, I am not the kind of person that can stomach being friends with a person who is fundamentally on the opposite end of the spectrum. Am I making sense?
I have made friends with people from all different walks of life. I am a people person, always have been. I enjoy hanging out with friends, even if we don’t see eye to eye on everything. So what is the right course of action to take when I meet someone who I do not care to socialize with?
