Broccoli with Oyster Sauce

I was surprised to find this delicious vegetable dish under the Thai section of my cookbook. I have always assumed this was Chinese because we always order this at our favorite restaurant. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, as long as I have the recipe! Allow me to share it with you:
Ingredients:
2 bacon rashers, finely chopped
1 kg broccoli
2 tbsps oil
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tsps oyster sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tsp bean sauce
2 tsps cornflour
1/4 cup water
Procedure:
Stir-fry bacon in wok until crisp; drain on absorbent paper. Cut broccoli into small flowerets. Bring pan of water to boil, add broccoli, cook 5 minutes; drain and rinse under cold water; drain.
Heat oil and garlic in wok, add broccoli, stir-fry 1 minute. Blend oyster sauce, fish sauce and bean sauce with cornflour and water, stir into broccoli mixture, stir-fry further 2 minutes, or until mixture boils and thickens; sprinkle with bacon just before serving.
And like me, after trying this recipe for the first time, you’ll feel the itch to make this dish more scrumptious than it already is! Instead of bacon rashers, I used thinly-sliced beef. And along with the broccoli, I added bok choy. What other interesting variations can you suggest?
