Brunei To Become Regional Producer of Solar Power?

Two companies are offering the country of Brunei to be a pioneer in its region as a producer of solar power. And if the government of this country does accept, then Brunei is going to be joining the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry.

Hamidjojo Development as well as Nations Solar Technologies are the two entities trying to get the Brunei government to accept their proposal. This is according to a report published in a local newspaper. It also did continue to mention that the former company’s head, Rubjanto Hamidjojo, did mention that if this project does become reality, Brunei could be totally off the hydrocarbon experience come 2015.

So as to be able to be part of the industry, Brunei would have to use around six kilometers of land. This would be used to build the facilities that would be used in collecting and transforming solar power into usable energy.

I guess, the business community in Brunei is well aware that very few (if any) of Mr. Hamidjojo’s projects have become reality so far. Let’s wait and see…….
