Budding Junk Creationist

Watch with metal and leather straps

I love the watchband above–I think it blends the modern look with a definite throw-back to the past.  I also like it because the description its creator gave makes it a junk creation–and a well done one at that.  It comes from a website/forum called http://forums.watchuseek.com and a thread on that site called: Homemade strap on original bracelet clasp.  (Picture comes from there as well.)

Remember2 (I assume this is a pen name, but who knows?) describes this as a prototype:

I made the prototype below, just to see if it could be done.
From a mechanical/practical point of view, it works beautifully

The strap is made from an old piece of leather I had around, and it’s only a try out.
For a “real one”, I need some other leather, leather DYE, and of course needle and thread to make stitches and all that.

But what do you guys think – does it look good with leather + clasp?

My only worry is that he seems to think he needs to improve on something already very nice.  If you disagree, let me know!
