“Build It” With Food – Let’s Get Cooking!

When it comes to “Building It,” our theme this week, why not consider building (or mixing) something with food ingredients?

There was a good response to my Thursday Thirteen – 13 Foods Children Can Make & Learn About Cookbooks, so I thought you would like to know about more cookbooks for kids.

Do you have favorite cookbooks or recipe resources for preparing kids’ food or books they can read and begin cooking?

As Eileen related in the comments to the Thursday Thirteen post (link above), youngsters learn fractions and math by reading recipes and cooking.  She routinely used cooking in her math classes.

Hello ladies. Looks like you two are busy and doing a great job. I’ve been working decluttering our entire house. It is a huge time consuming and tiring job. We’re having a huge moving sale this weekend. I hope we do well. Well, I just wanted to drop by and say “Hey!”.

  2. Thanks for stopping by, Karen. Hope your moving sale is a huge success. Moving is such a big job, especially when you have to downsize.

  3. Cyndi L says:

I *love* the sneaky chef! I just “discovered” her a little while back :-)

  4. Eileen says:

My son, now grown and a great cook in his own right, was my “sous chef” whenever two hands were not enough. And other times as well.

He flattened sugar cookies when he was just 4. He learned to make Polish pierogi when he was 8 and chocolate mousse tunnel cake when he was 10.

Fond memories. Thanks for jogging them Mary Emma!

  5. Hi Cyndi,
Pleased to get your recommendation on the Sneaky Chef. Thanks for stopping by One Book Two Book.

  6. Hi Eileen,
Thanks for stopping by One Book Two Book and sharing your memories. What fun to involve youngsters in the cooking and letting them learn by doing simple tasks. Sometimes it can be frustrating, but the patience is worth it when they can do some or much or the cooking and become good cooks, as my daughter has. I’m pleased I could jog fond memories for you.
