Bush Vetoes Embryonic Stem Cell Bill Once Again

News out of Washington, apparently George W. Bush has chosen to turn down a bill for the second time which would lift any ban on federal funds being used for the purpose of “destructive embryonic stem-cell research.”

Congress obviously pushing hard to pass this bill and Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker criticized President Bush for shooting it down.

On Wednesday, said Pelosi, “with a single stroke of his cruel veto pen, President Bush will dash the hopes of millions of Americans seeking cures through the miracle of stem cell research.”

One thing most Americans fail to realize is that some folks support embryonic stem cell research but if the bill were to be passed it would not be funded privately but through tax payer dollars. In other words, every single person who wakes up in the morning and goes to work to earn a living will be taking a portion of those hard earned dollars to support such an act. To deny access to live embryos is one thing, but to force the American people to support such an act is rediculous.

“If this bill were to become law,” said the President, “American taxpayers would for the first time in our history be compelled to support the deliberate destruction of human embryos. Crossing that line would be a grave mistake. For that reason, I will veto the bill passed today.”

And we elected our Senators. I don’t blame anybody but ourselves. The blatant push to support the mass killing of human life from the wallets of the American citizens is beyond barbaric and this thinking needs to stop. You have your beliefs and I have my own, and to have Pelosi tell the President that vetoing a bill pushes religious beliefs onto the system is a far cry for substance. It is not just a religious issue but economic and the fact that America was built on the Christian principles that are embedded in our Constitution and way of life. To change that is a lot to ask a President to do because there are corrupt Senators in Congress.

As a father of 5 children it scares me to think where this country will be when I have grandchildren.
