Busy Day Pot Roast

Saturdays always seem to be the busiest day of the week and one of my favorite days to whip out the crock pot for some help. One of my most favorite things to make in it is pot roast because there are so many different ways you can make it, and so many different things you add to it!
I’ve used this recipe for several years and it remains one of our favorites, everyone always asks for seconds! I like to add about half a pound or so of baby carrots to the bottom of the crock pot before I put in the pot roast, and the whole thing makes a delicious gravy that tastes amazing over mashed potatoes. If you don’t want to bother with mashed potatoes, chop up some potatoes and add them in with the carrots.
Amazing Slow Cooker Pot Roast
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 oz) package dry onion soup mix
1 1/4 cups water
5 1/2 pounds pot roast
In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix and water. Place pot roast in slow cooker and coat with soup mixture. Cook on High setting for 3 to 4 hours, or on Low setting for 8 to 9 hours.

Heather,
I love this blog and I love this recipe….put it in the CP and it’s done, just a few ingredients (more than 5 is a deal breaker for me!). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for replacements for the onion soup mix and cr of mushroom soup. Both are high in salt and I am trying to eat healthier.
Thanks!!
That is an awesome picture!
