I know I’ve seen this traveling around the blogosphere but it wasn’t until Crunchy Domestic Goddess actually told me she was doing a "Buy Nothing Day" tomorrow that I decided to actually read more on it.

Now for most of us we know the day after Thanksgiving as, "Black Friday," which is when all the stores drop their prices are many items really low. This is to inspire us consumers to shop so they can sell everything and get out of the red for the remaining of the year. But something else is starting now, at least around the blogosphere and that’s called the "Buy Nothing Day."

According to CrunchyDomesticGoddess the goal is not to buy anything from Nov 28-29th this year. To show the world that one day is not going to kill the stores or our pocket books. This is a movement that is trying to get started. Will you participate?

I must admit I will not, I’ve already got my list prepared and that’s what I’m getting. I’ve known for a while but wanted the best deal and Walmart is mine. Not only does it save me money but it takes care of all the Christmas items and I can wrap and have under the tree, without having to go out to shop again.

Here are a few more bloggers talking about Buy Nothing Day vs Black Friday and how they feel:

-  Frugal Dad hates the "thrill of the hunt" probably because the way people act and treat one another. He’s even declared this to be a No Spend Weekend.

-  There’s even a website on it, Buy Nothing Day!

Radio3 wants to know if you think you can go 24 hours without buying a single thing.

-  Even our own b5media blogger, Jennifer at Tree Hugging Family, is talking about Buy Nothing Day. Check out her list of things you can do besides shopping and spending your money.

Thanks for the link :) Actually, Buy Nothing Day is not a newer movement at all. It’s in it’s 17th or 18th year. That’s cool Crunchy DG is doing it, I haven’t been by her blog lately, I’ll have to see.
