Cabbage et al Against Bladder Cancer

I’ve written about the anti-cancer properties of cruciferous vegetables — broccoli, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and the likes — many times before.

Here’s another report on it’s impact on bladder cancer:

An international team led by New Zealand’s Agresearch has discovered that chemicals in the cabbage family of vegetables can decrease the incidence of bladder cancer by more than fifty percent.

“Broccoli sprouts were able to protect against bladder cancer and it was really a very significant effect,” Agresearch’s Dr Rex Munday explained. “It reduced the incidence of bladder cancer by fifty percent.”

And what better time of year to indulge in cabbage than St. Patty’s Day? :)

My thoughts exactly. The trick is to overindulge in the cabbage and not the green beer. Easier in theory, of course.
