Camp Weary Parent – Take a Field Trip Through Time

Camp Weary ParentThrough out the summer, we will use Fridays as Field Trip days at Camp Weary Parent – suggesting ways you and the kids can get out and still tie into the theme of the week. Ideas for field trips today:

  • Explore time travel at a local Science Museum – The Association of Science and Technology Centers offers a family membership that is very reasonably priced but gives you access to approximately 300 science centers around the world.
  • Travel back in time at the Children’s Museum – The Association of Childrens Museums offers a similar program – this makes day trips and museum trips while you are traveling much more affordable.
  • Visit a historical landmark – We don’t have any museums nearby, but we do live in an area rich in Civil War history. We may take a walk in the battlefield today.

What other field trip ideas do you have? Please don’t be shy – share them!

Don’t miss any of the fun – come back next week for Nature Week or visit the Camp Weary Parent page for a complete listing of all the activities to date.

These are great ideas for kids, but what about great ideas for mom’s this summer. Our book club read, “THE BOOK OF MOM” by Taylor Wilshire a perfect summer read, funny, insightful a great break for all moms–we all loved it. This is about a mom that feels overwhelmed and stuck in her marriage and life and how she finds her breath, passions and self back!

Wendy – that is a great idea – I will try to incorporate some parent focused ideas in the upcoming weeks plans, too.
