Can a Pandemic Flu Be Contained?

It depends who you ask.  Experts are divided on whether avian influenza, or bird flu, can be contained should it become transmiissable human-to-human, and should it become a pandemic.

One camp believes that once it is a contagion between people, all bets are off and the pandemic flu will sweep the world.  Fears of a 50% mortality rate would scare even the bravest among us.  Other experts believe that with aggressive antiviral treatment, pandemic flu could be contained in a geographical location, and could be prevented from spreading out of control.
