Carbohydrates are a cause of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, right? Wrong, according to a recent study. The study investigated the effect of diet with varying levels of carbohydrates in controlling the blood sugar in people with and without diabetes. Contrary to the current belief, the study suggests that carbohydrates do not cause type 2 diabetes, instead might help in insulin control. The author of the study is Dr Neville McClenaghan, from the University of Ulster and the study appears in the latest edition of Nutrition Research Reviews.
