Caulk image transfers

Technique Tuesday!
Today I’m wrapping up the series of tutorials that I’ve been sharing on my favorite image transfer methods. This last one, using clear acrylic caulk as the transfer medium, is a really wonderful and very permanent method, but it’s also more time consuming and a bit more physical. You really need to use a strong and heavy base to receive the image, and I especially recommend a canvas board or masonite.

I think that is a great idea. I can not wait to try it out. Have you used this technique on MDF board? If so how did it do? What kind of clear chalk do you use? Is it the silicone type? Please advise when you have time.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Right as we speak, I’m caulk transfering an image to a slab of wood which was gessoed and acrylic painted first. I’ve never tried transfering directly to wood, but it’s an interesting idea.
The clear silicone caulk works great! I’ve used the General Electric brand successfully.
While this is good advice for a caulk transfer, it really isn’t complete. You can use all different kinds of caulk and colors to create different affects. Most caulks are paintable after which can make some really fantastic effects. And also, some of my best transfers have been onto cloth. It adds texture and flexibility.
I used white caulk by accident. Will it still come out? I did it on stretched canvas.
Oh absolutely! Clear is just my personal favorite
