In Canada, the Canadian Environment Awards (CEA) had a grand event which was held at the Montreal Science Center. And it was a night where the organization recognized the top players, movers, and shakers for the environment.

Paula Prociuk Blacklock is the managing director for the group and she affirms, “For the past six years, the Canadian Environment Awards has celebrated exceptional individuals and groups who are working to develop sustainable strategies to protect Canada’s biodiversity. This year, all Canadians have come to recognize the importance of the environment, and in that context, the program has truly come of age. Our winners’ stories will resonate from coast to coast. As Canada’s original environmental publication, Canadian Geographic is honoured to showcase the achievements and leadership of these extraordinary Canadians, who are an inspiration to the rest of the country.”

The top winner for each category, the Gold awardee, received $5000 while the top-next winner, the Silver awardee, took home $2,500. All awardees also did take home framed plaques noting of their success.
