The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles has a special Women’s Heart Program with facilities tailored specifically for helping women reduce the risk of heart disease. Their personalized risk assessment and diagnostic evaluation is very comprehensive and they ave experts who give patients lifestyle advice such as:

  • Blood pressure management through nutrition, exercise and medication
  • Cholesterol management through nutrition, supplements and medication
  • Blood sugar (diabetes) management through nutrition, exercise and medication
  • Personalized exercise prescription
  • Heart healthy eating plan
  • Smoking cessation advice
  • Weight management programs
  • Stress management techniques

I don’t know if any of this is covered by insurance but it sure sounds like a deluxe medical check-up worthy of any woman. Perhaps in lieu of your next spa treatment, you could spring for a heart disease risk assessment instead.
