Florence Nightingale’s birthday is a cause for celebration!
Many still consider her the founder of modern nursing. In 1974, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) picked Nightingale’s birthday, May 12, for International Nurses Day.

Florence Nightingale's birthday marks International Nurses Day.
ICN represents millions of nurses worldwide, and they work to influence health policy around the globe. Read their positions statements on breastfeeding and more online.
Have you taken time out to consider all the ways that nurses have helped you? After all, you most likely have more contact with them than doctors.
Send flowers to your favorite nurse today or cook a nice dinner for a nurse in your family.
